On the eve of the R K Nagar byelection, the TTV Dhinakaran camp has released a video of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa in a hospitalbed. In the footage, Jayalalithaa is seen in a night dress, apparently watching TV and having a sip of juice.
The footage was released by Dhinakaran supporter and disqualified MLA P Vetrivel at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
“Lot of controversies are floated on the death of our leader. We have no option but to release the footage. We will not leave anyone who malign our leader,” Vetrivel said. He said the timing had nothing to do with the RK Nagar bypoll, which is necessitated by the death of Jayalalithaa on December 5, 2016
He said the video was recorded by AIADMK leader V K Sasikala after Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on September 22, 2016.
“I got the footage from Sasikala. She wanted me not to release. But I am releasing it since my conscience tells me to do so,” he said.
However, TOI could not ascertain the veracity of when and where the video was shot.
Vetrivel said the camp was maintaining patience, but “people” were going beyond their limits. “If we are asked, we will submit the proofs to the one-man inquiry commission probing the death of the leader,” he said.
“We have more videos,” he added.
