CEB engineers threaten to strike

The engineers of Ceylon Electricity Board have decided to launch a work-to-rule trade union action after 20th April.
The CEB engineers’ union Chairman Saumya Kumara Waduge said that a letter informing Minister of Power and Renewable Energy of their intention will be handed over tomorrow (Apr. 10).
The Chairman further said that the trade union action will be taken urging the authorities to approve the low-cost power station project which has already been submitted by his union.
Meanwhile, the University Joint Trade Union Committee said that its members are ready to report for duty with effect from tomorrow if the circular to increase their allowances is issued today.
